Where You Can Find Help at UMF

At UMF you have choices. You can choose to quit any way you want, and you can choose who you want to help you. If you decide that you would like to talk to someone about quitting smoking, several staff members and students are trained to answer your questions and support you with compassion and confidentiality. Visit none, one, or all of the following places. It’s your choice.

Student Health Center
Consider visiting the Student Health Center as the first stop on your quit crusade. Here you will find

  • Low cost nicotine patches

  • Quit Kits with tips and goodies

  • Relaxation techniques

  • Prescription medicine to help you quit

Feel free to drop in to talk to the nurse or the health educator. You can also make an appointment to talk to one of the doctors. Call 778-7200 or stop by Monday-Friday from 8 am-5 pm to make an appointment.

Health & Fitness Center
Pump iron instead of puffing cigarettes. If you don’t already exercise, quitting is a good time to start. Exercise will help you feel better, reduce cravings, and maintain weight. The Health and Fitness Center staff can even help you put together an exercise program. Call 778-7495 for more info.

Center for Human Development
Sometimes you just need someone to talk to. The Center for Human Development has counselors available for help with quitting. Call 778-7034 to make an appointment, or visit them during walk in hours everyday from 2-4p.m.

Resident Advisors
R.A.’s are invaluable resources for information and support. Call Residential Life at 778-7349.
