Health Fee and Insurance

How much will my on-campus health care cost?

You have two choices:

  1. You can pay at the time of your visit or we can bill your student account. The office charge is $25 to see a physician or dietician and $10 to see the nurse.
  2. You can purchase the student health fee at any time during the school year. It costs $60 per semester or $120 for the year. This allows you to see the doctor, deitician, or the nurse as many times a semester as needed without a charge. There may be a small charge for in-office lab tests or supplies. These charges and the health fee can be billed to your student account. The health fee does not cover lab tests done outside the Student Health Center, x-rays, or prescription medications.

Health Insurance

Health Insurance is very important during your college years, since an accident or serious injury may quickly drain your financial resources. You may have insurance coverage through your parents or your place of employment. As a UMF student taking at least 6 credits, you are also eligible to purchase the health insurance plan offered by UMF. This plan provides year-round limited coverage of health costs incurred outside the Student Health Center, such as laboratory work, x-rays, emergency room visits, consultations with a specialist, and prescription medications. See Accident and Sickness Insurance page for more information.

What if I decide not to pay the Health Fee?

You will be billed for every visit and service that you need.

How do I sign up for the Health Fee and Health Insurance?

You may sign up in person at the Business Office or Student Health Center.

For more information about any of the above information please call or stop by the Student Health Center, located on the north side of the Main Lounge of Scott Hall, 778-7200.
